Check out USABDA, they have information on how to get started in ballroom dancing whether you want to compete or just social dance, including local chapters which will have information on ballroom studios in your area.
I recommend trying all the dance studios in your area before settling on one for classes, lessons, etc. so you know what your options are. Different studios will focus on different things depending on what their teachers are interested in, e.g. competition, social, particular dances, etc.

Hi I was wondering if you could recommend any dance studios that offer ballroom dancing. A friend and I would like to take some lessons not this summer but during the school year we are 17. I was wondering about places in the Manhattan Area. If you know any it would great thanks in advance!!
Check out www.steppingoutstudios.com. Dancers are mostly adults, but I have seen some younger people there who usually come with their parents during the summer. This is the friendliest studio on the East Coast with some of the best instructors in the world. Located right in Manhattan. It offers classes in both International style and social dance which you may find interesting.

This question is semi-emergency-ish:
Anyway, there's this one girl in one of my college classes whom I've developed a really good relationship with. I like her a lot, she's really interesting and we have a ton of things in common. This morning, she mentioned she was going to the first Ballroom Dancing lessons, and I (stupidly) said I'd be there, too.
Not only do I not have ANY clue how to dance, I seriously don't want to go.
We're not even dating or anything like that, so she'll be okay if I don't go to it tonight, right?
Just tell her you forgot that you have two left feet.
Be honest with her. If you are friends she should take it pretty well. After all, she was going to go before you said you would too so you wont be leaving her to go "stag".
