For group and private ballroom dance lessons, what are the average prices?
At the dance studio I go to, it’s $80 for a one hour private lesson. For group lessons, it’s $15 for two hours.
I find those a bit expensive, but my parents are telling me that it costs more elsewhere. What do you guys think? Are those the average prices for ballroom dance lessons? If not, then what is?

Your group rates are about average. Your private rates are very slightly above the national average, but well within the typical range. And locale makes a difference.

The group rate is pretty much standard with what I see here, but the private rate is high. Also, it depends on where you live…for example, in California I would expect to pay more then I would where I'm at, Utah, just because the cost of living in Cali is higher than here.
However, you have to factor in who your instructor is as well…here in Utah we have some of the best ballroom dancers in the U.S. and occasionally the world… so if I took from a guy who had competed in Blackpool and was a 10-dance champion, I'd expect to pay more than from a guy who just majored in dance in college. So if your instructor is an accomplished ballroom dancer and you feel he/she teaches you well, then $80 is an alright deal. If he/she is just a dance major or something along those lines, you might want to try and negotiate the price or go somewhere else, I'd try for around $50 for someone like that. Hope it helps!
